FAQ
SpidaTrap FAQ - ensuring you catch spiders
Q - How do I get the best results from SpidaTrap?
A - SpidaTrap works best when laid end to end spanning across a room wall to wall or fully across a doorway. Spiders aren't choosy where they walk and will traverse a room differently every time. By creating a solid barrier of SpidaTraps (with no gaps) ensures that anything attempting to cross will be caught. Full instructions are on the website and on the back of the SpidaTrap box.
Q - What happens to the spiders when they are caught?
A - Nothing happens to them other than them being totally immobilised. I had thought about using a pesticide on the traps but immediately dismissed this as a bad idea in case a child or pet got accidentally caught. The SpidaTrap was designed to immobilise an extremely fast and unpredictable creature without the arachnophobe having to participate or even be present. If you don't want to leave the spiders to just die then I suggest covering them with the release paper supplied (shiny side down) and hit them with a (preferably long) stick. You can then scrape/knock them off if you don't wish to leave them on the trap.
Q - How long does a trap last?
A - If the SpidaTraps are only put out at night, stored during the day and don't have much traffic stepping over them then they can last for months. If the traps are down 24/7 and have frequent traffic passing over them causing large quantities of dust build up then they may only last 4-6 weeks. If the traps are exposed to direct sunlight then the glue turns yellow and cures making it hard, non sticky and useless within hours.
Q - If SpidaTrap has been designed for the big ground dwelling spiders what happens about the about the spiders I have on my ceiling or wall?
A - SpidaTrap can only catch spiders on the ground that attempt to cross it. However, as most spiders entering your house do so from the ground (unless you leave a window open) they will be caught on their way to the walls providing the traps have been positioned properly. I can state quite categorically that since I have been using SpidaTraps I have never seen any spiders on my walls or ceilings.
Q - Where do spiders enter my house?
A - The main entry points are usually through ventilated bricks (these look like normal bricks but with holes in them that surround the bottom of your house) into the foundations and then up through behind kitchen units or through air vents. They can also enter through vents in attics but again if you place SpidaTraps strategically you'll catch em. I have found that if I take certain precautions I can keep spiders entry points to a minimum. Shutting windows and outside doors before it gets dark and checking items that have been left outside before bringing them inside are standard procedures for arachnophobes.
Q - How long will I have to wait for my delivery of SpidaTraps?
A - For legal reasons you have to allow up to 21 working days for delivery but as an arachnophobe I fully understand customers urgency and try to post them out the next day. The SpidaTraps are sent first class and the majority of customers get them within 2 days after posting.
Q - Do I have to wait in for my delivery of SpidaTraps?
A - No, I specifically designed the SpidaTrap box to fit through a standard letter box slot.
Q - Can I take SpidaTraps abroad on holiday with me?
A - Yes, there shouldn't be any problem as I post SpidaTraps all over the world.
Q - Is the glue used on SpidaTraps dangerous?
A - No, unless your a spider or insect. There are no harmful ingredients in the glue and although it is very sticky it is not poisonous at all. The trap is made of recycled cardboard as well making the SpidaTrap totally green.
"Well, I am having such success with your traps, that I need to order some more. Almost every morning there is the odd combination of being thrilled that I have caught yet another big one, with bewilderment and fear as to how they were in the house in the first place."
